Really? Just fifty eight? Really...? Yes it is only fifty eight days until the big day. Christmas that is. I love Christmas, definitely my favourite time of year. Even as probably one of the most pessimistic people you will ever meet, I do genuinely feel it makes people happier. Me included, and if that's possible, well what's not to love.
Aside from rambling, which is probably my most adequate skill (incase you ever have to note that down), my point is that today I BOUGHT THREE CHRISTMAS PRESENTS. I have never been so excited to retrieve my card from the depths of my bag/jeans back pocket. The numbers are actually wearing away, best write my card number down now, before it's too late.
This year I'm restricting myself. Normally I buy presents willy nilly. Just here, there and everywhere, which usually means the females in my life end up with at least four more presents each than the male equivalent do. I've drawn up a spreadsheet - did you expect me not to? - and I can see exactly who I need to buy for, what I have bought, whether it's been delivered, yes really, and how much everything is costing me. I spent a good three to five minutes showing my mum that when I alter one square another square changes and therefore so does another. Oh yes my excel abilities are that good.
I've also reigned in my spending. I haven't set a budget per say but it's a good three, four times smaller than my normal annual outgoing.
This year I've made the active decision to buy gifts that mean something, personal to the recipient. The absolute wonderful existence of Not On The High Street - if you don't know them seriously what is wrong with you - has been an amazing assistant in achieving this goal.
These are just a few of the gifts I am planning to buy in the coming weeks, some of which I have already bought.
It's been a productive Sunday and I am happy, planning to be under house arrest tomorrow what with this hurricane approaching... Work may have to wait.
